Image Metadata Viewer provides browser-based image metadata tools at metadata-viewer.com.

Local Image Metadata Processing

The core viewer is designed to run in your browser. When you choose an image file in a supported format (JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, and TIFF), the file is read locally on your device so the tool can show EXIF, GPS, camera, lens, capture time, author, editing software, AI/C2PA hints, and related metadata where available. We do not upload your selected images to our servers for metadata viewing or cleanup.

The site may still load application code, fonts, analytics scripts, static assets, and map resources from our hosting or configured service providers. Those requests may expose normal technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, referring page, and timestamps.

GPS Maps

When an image contains GPS coordinates, the page may display an embedded Google Maps view and a map link for those coordinates. Loading the embedded map or opening the map link may send the coordinates and normal browser request data to Google. Do not analyze or open map links for sensitive images if sharing location data with a third-party map provider is not acceptable.

Information We Collect

We do not require an account, login, or payment to use the first release of the tool.

We may process:

  • Technical usage data from hosting, CDN, security, analytics, and map services.
  • Browser preference data such as theme or language settings.
  • Email address and message content if you contact us directly.

Analytics

The site includes optional Google Analytics and Plausible Analytics integrations. These services only load when their environment variables are configured. Analytics may help us understand page visits, referrers, device types, and general usage patterns.

Cookies And Local Storage

The site may use cookies or local storage to remember theme and language preferences. Analytics and map providers may also use cookies or similar technologies depending on their configuration.

Advertising

The first release does not load live advertising scripts by default. If Google AdSense or another advertising provider is enabled in the future, third party vendors, including Google, may use advertising cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.

Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads to users based on visits to this site and other sites on the Internet. Advertising providers may also use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses, browser identifiers, device information, and similar technologies to deliver, measure, and personalize ads.

Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings. Users may also be able to opt out of some third party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info.

If advertising is enabled, we will keep this section updated with the providers and data practices that apply to the site.

Data Retention

Images selected for metadata viewing or cleanup are not stored by us because they are processed locally in your browser. JSON exports and cleaned images are generated locally on your device. Contact emails and technical logs may be retained for as long as needed to operate, secure, and improve the service.

Third-Party Services

Our service may rely on hosting, CDN, analytics, map, and email providers. These providers process data under their own privacy policies.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or export personal data. To make a request, contact us at the email below.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
